Kibbe Dramatic Classic Body Type:
The Ultimate Guide
to Embracing Your Elongated, Balanced Silhouette
At Maeve Mélange, we honor the uniqueness of every body type (technically ‘Image Identity,’ as Kibbe doesn’t call them body types), and this page focuses on the harmonious and striking allure of the Dramatic Classic silhouette. This body type is a seamless blend of bold angularity and refined symmetry, sitting at the intersection of YIN and YANG (pronounced YAH-ng) energies (essentially smack dab in the middle), but leans slightly more YANG. It’s the perfect balance of strength and grace, with a look that exudes sophistication and poise at every turn.
What Defines the Dramatic classic BOdy type?
The Dramatic Classic (DC) Image Identity is characterized by a sleek, angular frame paired with a balanced, moderate amount of body flesh. Their Kibbe “accomodation” (aka what makes them special) is vertical and balance - they’re symmetrically proportional both vertically and horizontally (meaning you could fold them in half each way and they’d be mirror images), and they ‘look’ tall. Here at Maeve Mélange we refer to Classics as the “Kennedy’s” because they’re seemingly perfect and look very, very expensive. DCs radiate an effortlessly polished and symmetrical aesthetic, making them a powerful and elegant visual statement.
key features of a
Dramatic Classic:
Moderate Height with Commanding Presence: Slightly taller than average (5’6” or taller)
Athletic Build: Toned, subtly muscular, and well-defined
Longer Limbs: Limbs tend to be longer; contributing to an elongated & balanced silhouette
Tapered Shoulders: Narrow, soft square shoulder definition that accentuate the sculpted, angular lines of the body
Angular Facial Features: Defined jawlines, high cheekbones, and sharp features
Balanced Waist: Small, defined waist complements a proportional bust and hips
You’re Not
A dramatic classic If…
Dramatic Classics are all about angularity, structure, and symmetry. If any of the following traits resonate, you’re probably a different body type:
Your facial features are round, soft, or lack sharpness
You have a soft hourglass shape with a defined waist and balanced bust and hips
Your arms and legs are more fleshy or softer rather than long and lean
Your bone structure is wider or more delicate instead of angular and compact
You have a petite presence or a shorter frame rather than a vertical, elongated silhouette

Style Code
Structure, elegance, and timeless design. Dramatic Classic clothing is all about sophisticated, clean lines and tailored silhouettes. You’re a Kennedy, babe, you need to opt for sharp necklines, high-quality fabrics, and strategic contrasts to accentuate your striking features and sophisticated presence.
Fabrics & Materials
Structured, High-Quality Fabrics: silk crepe, wool crepe, tropical wool, medium-weight linen
Moderate, Timeless Materials: Ponté knit, stretch suit blends, cotton sateen, silk charmeuse (matte or semi-matte), gabardine
Classic Prints: Houndstooth, pinstripes, subtle checks
Avoid: soft or clingy fabrics (jersey, slinky knits), stiff/bulky fabrics (canvas/raw denim), super textured fabrics (boucle, heavy tweed), floaty/romantic fabrics (chiffon, gauze), busy patterns, large rounded patterns
Necklines
Asymmetrical/Geometric: Square, moderate v-neck, keyhole, cutout (minimalist)
Higher Neckline: Jewel or crew neck
Collared necklines: mandarin collars, tailored shirt collars
Avoid: Deep plunges, sweetheart, ruffled, halter tops, cowl necks, scoop necks
Silhouette & Fit
Symmetry is PARAMOUNT: Your outfits are all about ratios, your body (torso to ankle) is a unit. The units are: ¼ and ¾, ⅓ and ⅔, ½ and ½. Or reverse them. For example: ¼ of your body is your shirt, then ¾ is your pants. OR ⅔ of your body is your dress and ⅓ is your bare legs. Practice this principle and you’ll always look amazing.
Shirt/Jacket Shoulder Seams: Should always sit right on your shoulder - you aren’t a Natural, width is not what’s special about you, so no drop shoulders or batwings for you
Vertical Emphasis: High waisted pants, midi dresses, mini dresses, or dresses at/ just below the knee; you’re always trying to emphasize the fact that you look 80 ft tall
Blazers: They’re your best friend! You’re a body type that Blair says if she threatened to take away your blazers you’d reply, “Over my dead body”
Avoid: Drop shoulders, dolman sleeves, flowy/loose/oversized clothing, unbalanced silhouettes, color blocking without color carrying
Prints & Patterns
Geometric Patterns: Structured prints - geometric shapes, stripes, and zigzags
High Contrast Colors: Sharp contrasts, such as black and white or deep hues
Slightly Oversized Patterns: Larger patterns can offer balance without overpowering you
Avoid: Tiny prints, rounded prints, swirls, brush strokes, polka dots, baroque, watercolor
Accessories
Structured Bags: Top-handle bags, satchels, envelope clutches, boxy/rectangular shapes with clean lines, smooth leather and high-quality finishes
Sleek/Sculptural Jewelry: Medium-to-large scale studs (size of a nickel or penny, 12-15 mm) or structured drop earrings, geometric bracelets, rectangles, bars, cuffs, shiny metal or high-contrast enamel
Tailored Belts: Medium width (1.25 - 2”/3 - 5cm), high-quality leather or structured fabric; minimal buckle or bold geometric hardware
Avoid: boho bags, oversized totes, boho fringe, floppy fabric belts, ultra-wide bohemian belts, tiny stud earrings or whimsical dangles
Shoes
Sleek and Narrow: pointed-toe pumps, slingbacks, d’orsay heels
Angular Design: loafers, oxfords, strappy sandals, mules (pointed or square toe)
Boots: Leather preferred over slouchy suede or rustic textures & always pointed toe; ankle boots (slim & sleek), tall boots (knee high with a slim shaft and structured body)
Avoid: Bulky platforms, delicate ballet flats, kitten heels, ornate/whimsical shoes (bows, florals, vintage cutouts), combat boots, hiking boots, extreme square toes, balloon heels, anything ultra-trendy
Tops
Structured Blouses: sharp collars, crisp tailoring, seams hitting the shoulder (silk crepe, cotton sateen, lightweight poplin)
Minimalist Button-Down Shirts: Slim cut, no ruffles, subtle darts (cotton blend, silk twill, rayon)
Fitted Knit Tops: Clean necklines (boat, jewel, or modest V), with a structured fit (dense rib knits, ponte, or stretch wool)
Higher Neck Tops: Turtlenecks (fitted, not slouchy), bateau necks with shoulder detail
Other Options Mentioned Before: Square Neck, Slight V-Neck, Tailored Peplum (minimal flare)
Avoid: Oversized or slouchy tops, frilly/ruffled/draped, boho/textured, girlish/whimsical, unstructured jersey and clingy knits
Dresses
Tailored Sheath: best fabrics are crepe, ponte knit, wool blends, stretch suiting
Structured Midi
High-Neck Column: best necklines are bateau, jewel, or mock necklines with vertical seams or darts
Peplum: minimalist, not too flowy
Wrap-Style: clean edges, moderate neckline, minimal draping
Formal Gowns: column, tailored mermaid, slim A-line with defined waist; look best with slit, asymmetrical neckline, strong shoulders and, or minimal sparkle
Avoid: Overly draped or flowy, bulky/oversized/unstructured, ruffled/frilly/adorned, jersey bodycon/clingy, excessively girlish or “cute” designs
skirts & Pants
Skirts
Pencil Skirts: structured, not clingy; look best with waist darts or seaming with slight stretch and knee to midi length in stretch crepe, suiting wool, or ponte knit fabrics
Straight Midi Skirts
Trumpet/Fluted Skirt: make sure it flares below the knee, not at the hip
Wrap Skirt: needs to be tailored, not slouchy
A-Line
Panel Skirt (vertical)
Avoid: Flowing/floaty/overly soft, ruffled/tiered/gathered, pleated (unless very crisp & minimal), maxi skirts, jersey or clingy knits
pants
Fit: straight or slim leg in a high waist. If wide leg the width can ONLY go as wide as the widest part of your hip and must be paired with a belt at the waist and a blazer with a shoulder pad or puff top for symmetry
Simply Tailored: trouser, cigarette pant, slim-fit ankle pant, flat-front pant (avoid pleats)
Shorts: 3.5 - 4” inseam
Avoid: flowy palazzos, cargo pants, leggings, jeggings, slouchy trousers, distressed jeans, oversized jeans

Avoid: Oversized/chunky/slouchy, heavily textured (boucle, fuzzy knits, nubby wool), romantic or boho (fringe, embroidery, ruffles), drape-front or waterfall cardigans (breaks symmetry and line), puffer jackets or casual/sporty coats
Hair & Makeup
Hair
Blunt Bob: Chin to shoulder length; wear it super straight, slightly angled, or with a clean center or deep side part
Polished Lob (Long Bob): Best if styled flat-ironed with subtle bend, not beachy waves
Long, Straight, or Slightly Sculpted: Make sure it’s glossy, healthy, with no flyaways (DCs aren’t Naturals)
Sleek Layered Cut (Minimal Layers): Should be long, blended, and precisely cut
Avoid: Soft/feathery layers or shag cuts, boho/beachy/tousled styles, messy buns or casual texture-heavy, highly voluminous or curly styles without structure, uneven or asymmetrical cuts that feel chaotic
Makeup
Skin: Foundation should be in a matte or satin finish, medium to full coverage, precise blending; contour and highlight should subtly define bone structure but no over contouring or glowing
Eyes: Winged liner, sharp shadow placement, subtle cat eyes; eyeshadow in matte or satin in your season’s neutrals, jewel tones, or smoky grays but edges need to be crisp and clean; brows should be well-defined and slightly bold
Cheeks: Blush should be high and angled, following your bone structure using your season’s rose or mauve-esque colors
Lips: Choose lipsticks in a satin, matte, or velvet finish; reds, berries, plums, mauves are good
Avoid: Soft/dewy/romantic makeup, “no makeup” look, overly trendy or exaggerated (ex. Chunky glitter or neon graphic eyeliner), smudgy or boho-inspired looks
